It's summer (at least as I write this page), and many people want to get in shape. I WANT to, but will I??? Only time will tell. Letıs look at some English words for working out...

Please remember NickKnacks were originally designed for LIVE teacher classes. The calisthenics and other exercises are too hard to describe simply on paper. If you are really an English student, please ask your real, live English teacher to demonstrate for you ;-{)))

Calisthenics and other exercises:

arm circles chin upsjumping jacks leg lifts
push ups pull upssit ups squat thrusts

Health club rooms:

aerobics roomA room usually with mirrors and many lights for aerobics classes
locker room a room to change from / to and store your street clothes
pool the swimming pool
sauna the sauna, a kind of steam bath in a very hot room
showers the room to wash in by shower after you exercise (and in most places, before the pool)
weight room a room with free weights and other body building equipment

Other means of fitness:

hikinga long walk, often in the country or woods
jogginga type of running at a steady but slow speed
martial artsfighting sports, such as karate, judo, boxing, etc.
running a sport where a person moves very quickly while on foot
squasha game done in a small closed room with rackets and a hard rubber ball
swimminga sport where a person moves through the water by using hands and feet
tennis a game done on an open flat court which is divided by a net and played by two or four players with rackets and a ball
walkingto move about on foot at a slow pace for the purpose of exercise or leisure
weight lifting the sport of lifting heavy weights
