Adverbs of time
.
Introduction
2 - 4
Explanation and discussion:
Adverbs of time answer the question "When?" in a sentence or clause.

Their location is quite flexible, and can occur at many different places in a sentence:

  • Sometimes I like to soak in a hot tub or hot spring.
  • I sometimes like to soak in a hot tub or hot spring.
  • I like sometimes to soak in a hot tub or hot spring.
  • I like to sometimes soak in a hot tub or hot spring.
note: many grammar purists would argue against the one above because it is a 'split infinitive'
  • I like to soak in a hot tub or hot spring sometimes.
