Verb
Irregular verbs
part 2 of 5

Explanation and discussion:
Every language has different difficulties. In English, one of the many is the large number of irregular verbs (called strong verbs in some texts). The only way to learn the various forms is by hard study and repeated practice.
We are not looking at the USE of them just yet, just a basic review of what they are. They will be used in other lessons.
Likewise, it is important to know the four basic forms, which will be studied more in other lessons
the present or 'dictionary' form,
the present participle
the past, simple past or imperfect form and
the past participle or perfect form (often used with had, has or have).
Example(s):
present
be - am/is/are
present participle
being
past
was/were
past participle
been
Note(s): Remember, this is a case where there are no logical rules... all you can do is study, practice and remember!
Exercise(s):
Note: Due to a bug in Microsoft Internet Explorer, you must click next question for the first question. This does not happen in Netscape. In any browser, click on the (a) (b) or (c) for the answer and the next question button to see the next question.
For this exercise, consider 24 or better "Great", 18 or better "Very Good", 12 or better "Good" and 6 or better "OK". Remember the score is RIGHT minus WRONG. Zero or less, please study the list some more.
