Apocrypha (5)

(noun) - away + hidden. = The 14 books of the Old Testament that the Catholics consider part of the bible, but the Protestants do not.

apocryphal (4)

(adj.) - away + hidden. = Something that is fictitious, in error or questionable in origin. From the word Apocrypha, above.

apogee (3)

(noun) - away (far) from + earth. = The farthest point of the moon or a satellite from the earth. The highest point.

apostasy (4)

(noun) - away + place or stand. = Abandoning one's religious faith, political belief or other cause to which one was loyal.

apostle (2)

(noun) - away + send. = One sent on a mission. Often used to refer to Christ's original 12 disciples and Paul. Also the highest church officials in some churches, esp. the Mormons.
